Many LSU fans were left scratching their heads on Wednesday after new LSU president Wade Rousse commented on the status of interim athletic director Verge Ausberry.

It was reported on Tuesday that Ausberry would be elevated to full-time athletic director, but Rousse didn't overwhelmingly support that idea when he was asked about it:
quote:

“I'll remove the interim [title] and then we'll assess the situation," Rousse said to reporter Piper Hutchinson. "I can't make a very good decision after being on that on the job for eight hours…”

“I don’t know what permanent means versus removing the interim.”

“It was important for me to show stability,” Rousse said. “Verge has done a good job up until this point. I really need to dig deeper in terms of what we look like, to make sure we protect that global brand.”
Later in the day, Rousse was on WWL Radio in New Orleans and addressed his earlier comments, but didn't really add any clarification on the subject, leaving LSU fans confused again...

Embarrassing - all he did was confuse everybody. Not a good start putting his foot in his mouth right off the bat. What in the frick is the difference between interim and acting? And if he can’t make a good decision after being on the job 8 hours that doesn’t speak well for the rest of his tenure.

Indecision may, or may not, be his problem . . .

A system president that doesn't know that the interim AD is the acting AD. You can't remove the interim tag and still be the acting AD l.

Verge keeps the job if he hires a good football coach and fixers basketball. And keeps JJ happy

In other words Verge is on a short leash and if he does well in the coach search it may result in him being promoted full time to AD. If results are not good then he is either put back where he was or terminated

Y'all will melt over anything. This is called leveraging. He knows he's got a potential issue with Verge at AD but also knows anything Verge does with the interim tag could be blamed on Rousse. Removes the tag but doesn't take Verge off the leash. Smart move. Melt when it fails miserably.

Whats wrong with what he said. There should be no presumed permanence of the job until he has full understanding of his vision as president. Imagine that, a leader that doesnt make quick unthoughtful decisions under pressure. That's what a leader does, at his own pace.
That's his job. STFU all you bitches
