As part of the $85 million revamping of their athletic and recreational facilities, LSU is constructing a lazy river as a part of the construction. Per FOX News...

The "river," which is more like a pool and spells out "LSU," is part of a campus recreation project that includes an outdoor adventure center, a rope-climbing course and a 21,000-square-foot sun deck. The Baton Rouge school hopes to have the project done in time for fall of 2016.

LSU Director of University Recreation Laurie Braden is rather excited about the project...
quote:

“I will put it up against any other collegiate recreational facility in the country when we are done because we will be the benchmark for the next level,”

To the stupid Gump who commented early, it's part of the renovation of LSU's student recreation center. It's not an amusement attraction.

Haha, budget crisis. These school's spending is out of control. The facilities are way out of control. This is awesome but totally unnecessary.

Haven't they been raising tuition on the basis of the state funding cuts?

You do realize that this is funded by student revenue only, right? The state budget crisis has nothing to do with this.

Rec project has nothing to due with state funding. Funding voted on and paid for by student tax.

Texas St. has a real spring fed river running right through their whole campus and a campus lawn known as "bikini hill." I think that beats your lazy river and sun deck. BTWE, bama has had a lazy river for like ten years
