Washington Owner Buys Rare Jayden Daniels Card For $500,000

During the Fanatics Fest over the weekend, a rare 1-of-1 2024 Jayden Daniels Panini Prizm card was bought for roughly $300,000 by Josh Roth and Jacob Ramos of Rothcards.

The card caught the attention of Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris, who reportedly negotiated a deal to purchase the card for $500,000. Per The Spun:

Due to his early on-field success, Josh Roth and Jacob Ramos of Rothcards bought a rare 1-of-1 2024 Daniels Panini Prizm card for roughly $300,000 which they showed off at this year's Fanatics Fest. And it caught the attention of Commanders owner Josh Harris.

Per The Athletic, Harris asked Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin who in attendance had the rarest Jayden Daniels, and when Roth and Ramos came forward he two sides quickly negotiated a deal worth half a million dollars (even though they were asked for four times that).

"It was such an experience to be on stage with just everyone. It really happened so fast," Ramos told the publication. "Moments like that are timeless."

Daniels reportedly signed the card afterwards and Harris plans to display it at Northwest Stadium this season.

God Dam it. I should've invested in this instead of putting $370 on 75:1 odds on him going #1 overall in September 2023 after the MSU game. I knew he was better than Caleb, just thought NFL GMs would see it too. Ended up losing obviously, but I should've just bought a $370 rookie card when first issued which they prob do it sometime over the summer 2024 btwn draft and week 1. I bet $370 card would be 2 grand now for him.

Does signing make it worth any more if it's already 1/1? Or does that make it no longer mint grade?

the mint grade would apply to the card itself and another grade would apply to the quality of the signature. If both are 10/10 and its a 1-1 card it has no comps and will fetch an incredible amount of the right bidders are on the group.

At the same time if they submit it, and it gets a lower BGS or PSA grade, then it could lower value. It's a risk. Worthwhile having an expert judge it first before submitting for an official grading.

Love JD and I understand card collecting. But why on earth would you pay that much money on a card from 2024? Seems risky especially for a football card of a second year player who takes a lot of hits. Hopefully I'm wrong and JD has a HOF career and this card sky rockets in value.

huge risk for sure. Upside is a 1-1 Heisman winner would be rare regardless of his NFL career. If he plays out right, could be a good investment. Similar to the 1-1 that sold with Paul Skenes.

He signed it after? Unbelievable they paid $500k for a non-auto rookie card and non-graded. Almost every card worth that is an autograph rookie card that is a GM MT condition. Is that article right? I'm sure it had to of been autographed upon being sealed in a pack to fetch $500k.

Nvm, I see it is a BGS 9.5 GM Mint non-auto rookie card. What I have no idea happened, is that the card is covered by a very thick, non-opening case after grading. So did Jayden just sign the case, or did they open it up, Jayden sign, then close it? That would mean it'd have to be regraded because it could be tampered when opened.
