I could say so much about this guy but today I’ll use two words.......Paranoid......insecure.

If they do the things they say they are, we will finally have the offense we’ve been waiting for. I don’t think Canada and O had this same vision. But Aranda and Ensminger apparently do as well. I think Canada’s offense confused the players and led to penalties. I think simplifying things for these young men is what they need. Spread the defense with multiple WR sets, implement the TE in the passing game, short to intermediate passes with shots down field when available, Designed rushing plays for QB(Narcisse), an occasional jet sweep, and smash mouth SEC style rushing attack, and that should about do it. Nothing really complicated, just disguise formations and execute. That’s really all it comes down to. We got this!

According to wiki the last two times SE was an OC he coached high school ball the following year. Except when he was our interim.

I think Steve ensminger was the oc at lsu for 8 or 9 games. Look up 2016 season at lsu. You may have been paying attention to bama during that season I suppose?

So he may do well may not, but hopefully better than Matt Canada. That guy can't coach Shite

It’s ironic you would bring up 2016 Bama while defending this hire

How paranoid can one man be?

Isn't it amazing that soooo many people without a lick of coaching experience seem to have the greatest knowledge about what the LSU program should do. Please tell me the last time LSU had a losing legit losing season, meaning more losses than wins? Saban once told the story of his first season at LSU. Saban was pumping gas the night his tiger team lost to UAB. As he was paying for the gas, the attendant inquired about his ring he was wearing. Saban told the attendant that it was a Big 10 championship ring. The attendant said, " LSU will never win a championship with Nick Saban as their coach." Let that sink in tiger fans. Get off CEO's case and let the man do his job. A job that you have not and most likely cannot do!

I concur. these 9-4 seasons are way better than those 4-7 years. Give me a reason to stay out of the pecan groves tigers.

Saban surrounds himself with lots of talent, that is the main reason he is the best. If O doesn't keep a supply of talent, he won't keep his job. Talent not only on the field, but on the sidelines as well. I think he knows talent, so let's see what we got coming for next year. Because the way I see it, if we ain't coming next year, O and his AARP offense might be going.

So by your way of thinking, no coach can ever be wrong, make a bad hire, etc... because, well, they have experience. Makes sense.

What people don't understand is that O, Aranda, and Ensminger are all best of friends. They are like brothers. O doesn't make football decisions without running them through both of those guys first because he respects and trusts those two guys so much. So O bumping up Ensminger is just O surrounding himself with the people he trusts and respects the most. The reason O said he was going to go out and get the best OC available when he was hired is that he thought he could get his friend Lane Kiffin to come to LSU. When that fell through, he hired another OC that didn't work out because he became perceived as a pariah and a cancer on the coaching staff by the coaching staff. Hence, he had to go. Thus, when Aranda said that Ensminger is a better play caller than Canada, and he should know since he went against both of them every day in practice, O decided he'd hire his trusted friend Ensminger to be our new OC. There is also a rumor that Ensminger called the plays in the Texas A&M game this season.

That's a really interesting story that you've fabricated. I hope your fairy tale, three amigos story is actually true and it ends happily ever after. So which are we supposed to believe? That they're all actually BFFs and that aranda tells O that SE is really better than canada or any of the other playcallers in the nation, OR that O probably wrote checks he couldn't cash when he said we would hire the best and is now backtracking and saying whatever gets him out of hot water when he didn't get along with the OC he HAND PICKED. Which sounds like BS to you?

He believes he hired the best in the nation, or at least the best for LSU. It’s clear Orgeron highly appreciates the familiarity ensminger has with the players and program—Orgeron thinks that will go a long way. Heat or may not be right as to whether that’s the best option, though. His job depends on it, and we shall see.

It doesn't matter. The decision has been made. Ensminger is highly qualified and will be a good OC. What does anyone want him to say? Yes, I was turned down by my 1st choice and gave it to Steve? WTF is wrong with you people?
user avatar
puffulufogous75 months
The issue is that he stated he would hire the best in the nation. Whatever happened with canada doesn't matter, but he still has to fill that obligation. Not trashing SE, but does anyone really consider him to be one of the top OCs out there?

Amazing that's just how O got the head coaching job. The first choice on Herman was turned down so they gave it to O.

Highly qualified my arse. Hasn't been an OC since 03 and was demoted to TE coach after that. Coached one good QB in his entire career. How in the HELL is he qualified to be our OC? But okay STRIPES, I know your game though. You love Ed O unconditionally, he can do no wrong, you don't want a spread offense, blah blah blah. You're part of the problem with how awful we are.

"I researched some other guys" The question was whether you interviewed anyone else. Clearly not. That does not inspire much confidence.

Do they have a must win amount of games this season? Seven? eight? Lots of things will factor but they keep this train moving and get a good recruiting class in 2019 - we all complain about the same thing over and over. 7-5 and all hell breaks loose
