LSU's Travonte Valentine will most likely redshirt this season.
LSU head coach Les Miles suggested on Tuesday that there would be a good chance the freshman defensive tackle Travonte Valentine would not play this season and would most likely redshirt. Per The Advocate:

Valentine, meanwhile, is set to be redshirted, the coach hinted. The Southeastern Conference has not ruled Valentine eligible, despite him being cleared by the NCAA. The four-star defensive tackle prospect from Florida is allowed to practice with the team but not play.

Asked if Valentine will be redshirted, Miles said, “I don’t imagine he’d see any action any time soon unless we get some unusual communicative information.”

We need (LSU) to lawyer up on their arse - we will probably never know what the SEC has seen differently than the NCAA.

Why would he have to redshirt if he was never cleared to play to begin with? Why wouldn't he be able to redshirt next year if cleared if need be?

I'd love to know what exactly caused the problem. I doubt that it was a matter of rape or selling autographs or shoplifting.
