GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- We are working closely with local, state and University officials as well as the Southeastern Conference office to monitor the progress of Hurricane Matthew and its potential impact on campus and the safety of the fans.

As of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the game is still scheduled to be played on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. A final decision on the start time of the game will be made by 12 p.m. CT on Thursday as we continue to monitor the storm.

The game will not be moved out of Gainesville.

There will be no overnight parking lots for this weekend’s game. All lots will open on Saturday at 8 a.m.

I honestly hope the SEC doesn't allow UF to make this a night game...the Swamp is tough at night...and after all the debacles the SEC/Media has thrown at LSU and disallowed LSU SEC conference games at night....an opponent shouldn't be given the benefit of one due to weather.

Seems pretty risky to play the game in FL. Hope it works out

Forecast for Gainesville on Friday as storm passes by. Winds 30 mph with gust of 38. WOW! Saturday sunny and pleasant. Bunch of dippers.

Strannix: Do you know anything about hurricanes? Gainesville will see very minimum wind speeds simply due to its location west of the hurricane. The eye of the storm will remain off the coast. Gainesville won't even lose power from this storm. Some whiney #itches up in here.

Storm will be well north of Florida on Saturday likely near the Carolinas. Not sure why all the bitching in here. Game will be played at 11 am as it should be. It's not going to be that bad for Gainesville people.

No we are just wondering about the millions of million in one of the largest evacuations in US history as Matthew strengthened overnight.

I like your line of thinking. Electricity usually stays on during winds of 100+ mph. It certainly will not be out a few hours after a hurricane passes.

The same can be said for the UM/FSU game in Miami Saturday. Although the game is Saturday night, the FSU folks need to travel the whole length of the state in the middle of "H Matthew Alley", otherwise known as the FLA Turnpike.

Shut up and put the blame on the person in the mirror.

Banker is 100% right. Can't risk the team to appease some of the fan base who think more of 3 hours of entertainment weighed against the chance of harm or death to teenagers for his enjoyment.

sounds like florida doesn't want to play game at all. here is a possible scenario, game gets cancelled meaning the best florida can finish in conference play is 6-1. If Tennessee loses twice in conference play and finishes 6-2 and florida wins out and goes 6-1 then they are sec east champs and playing in Atlanta in December. The decision to not move game out of Gainesville, FL seems like a strategic move on the gators part.

Tomorrow they are going to make a final decision as to the start time. The decision not to move the game is final. That's what the statement says.
