Sports Illustrated released their preseason college football top 25 rankings on Tuesday and pegged LSU at No. 8. Here's what they had to say about the Tigers in 2019.
quote:

8. LSU Tigers

Last year: 10–3 (5–3 SEC); Beat UCF in Fiesta Bowl

SI Top 100 players: Two: S Grant Delpit (No. 6), CB Kristian Fulton (No. 47)

Bottom line: Ed Orgeron’s critics are a little quieter after last year’s 10-win season. But this is LSU: 10 wins still isn’t enough to placate the Tigers’ fan base—or to catch Alabama.
Top 10:
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
2. Clemson Tigers
3. Georgia Bulldogs
4. Oklahoma Sooners
5. Texas Longhorns
6. Ohio State Buckeyes
7. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
8. LSU Tigers
9. Oregon Ducks
10. Florida Gators

I think Ohio State is going to suck. The whole Big 10 is garbage.

They’re ranking UT’s 7 returning starters at #5 and us at #8? That sports illustrated renewal form that’s been sitting on my counter for 2 months is going in the trash today. Idiots.

The only reason we ranked so low is because of who we play. If we lose to teams ranked over us, it justifies thier position (ex. Wisconsin a few years back). If we win, they'll drop, but we won't move up because they'll say, "LSU isn't good, they just beat an overrated team. We have to beat Bama to get an invite to the big dance. Plan an simple!

I’m fine at 8 right now. We play 3 top 10 teams. Plenty of time to prove our worth

Does UGA get a bump for playing in a weaker division or do people really think they’re that good? Remember Kirby has yet to win a road game against the SECw. And is 1-2 in neutral sites.

Oregon is trash. Only reason they may keep their ranking is because of how trash the rest of the PAC12 is.
