Update:
Rickey Jefferson reportedly broke his fibula and will undergo surgery soon. It is currently unknown how long his recovery will take.

Expect coach Ed Orgeron to provide an update when he meets with the media after practice on Thursday.

LSU starting safety Rickey Jefferson suffered a serious ankle injury during Wednesday's practice and will miss several weeks, according to The Advocate:

Rickey Jefferson, a senior starting safety, suffered a serious leg injury at practice Wednesday and will miss significant time, a source told The Advocate. The extent of the injury is not clear, and coach Ed Orgeron will address reporters at a previously scheduled post-practice news conference Thursday night.
Some reports say that Jefferson broke his ankle and will miss the rest of the season.

Junior safety John Battle is expected to step in and replace Jefferson. Senior defensive back Dwayne Thomas will also see more playing time at safety.

Perfect, just what we need! BTW, in the old days backs were required to have their ankles taped for every practice and games. Based on the number of ankle injuries this year is that still a policy.
