FootballScoop has reported that Assistant Athletic Director and longtime LSU staffer Sam Nader is retiring and that former LSU General Manager Austin Thomas is returning to Ed Orgeron's staff.
Nader is the longest-standing member of the LSU football staff. He was hired as a graduate assistant in 1975 was promoted to a full-time assistant coach by Charles McClendon in 1977.
The Many, La. native was responsible "for overseeing all of the day-to-day administrative duties for the LSU football team," according to his bio on LSUSports.net.
Austin, a native of Franklin, Tenn., was LSU's Director of Player Personnel under Les Miles from 2013-2015 and was named the Personnel Director of the Year in 2015. He left LSU to take the same position at Southern Cal in 2016 but quickly returned to Miles' staff after just three months with the Trojans.
He was promoted to General Manager when Ed Orgeron took over for Miles and was heavily involved in LSU's recruiting during his years in Baton Rouge.
Austin left LSU in 2018 to join Texas A&M staff as an Associate Athletic Director for Football Personnel for one season and spent the past year at Baylor working on Dave Aranda's staff.
