Former LSU head coach Les Miles and Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin are candidates for the open head coaching job at Houston, according to ESPN.

Miles was fired by LSU back in Septemeber and Kiffin has been linked to the open offensive coordinator position on Ed Orgeron's staff.
quote:

Former LSU coach Les Miles has been contacted about Houston's head coach vacancy and Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has also emerged as a candidate, sources told ESPN.

"Les Miles has always recruited Texas (while head coach at LSU and Oklahoma State) and has friends in Houston," a source said. "It could be what Miles is looking for."

Houston board of regents chairman Tilman Fertitta told the Houston Chronicle that Miles is under consideration.

It would be a quality road to the want. The strongness of the chest creates the want in which we all feel apprised to after the team vote. The damned strong football team will have the playness for local recruiting of these fine young men. Have a nice day.

Les should be in Houston. At his age ,he wouldn't bolt after two years like every other Houston coach. Not a Houston fan but I'm sure they're tired of the turn over. Lane would be gone in two years.

That's a good point. Houston could establish themselves as a school that isn't just a stepping stone school for young coaches.

If Kiffin goes to Houston, O just taps the speed dial button for Art Briles. A little controversy, but a lot of offense!

I was always in the belief Kiffin would not leave Bama for anything less than a HC job. Kiffin would be a good hire for Houston. Les Miles would be a disaster hire.

I am sure if Kiffin is given the opportunity to make a little more money and not have a head coach that screws at him like a child he would take the opportunity.

I thought the title said: "Les Miles and Lane Kiffin are candidates for the Offensive Coordinator job." Bwahahahaha!

Houston better stay away from the big boys and go hire Briles.

I don't think Briles is going to have a job anytime soon.

Lane would probably go to Houston for 2-3 years to get his next big shot. They were paying Herman 3 mill and would have paid more.

Les miles is a good man Houston. Do the right thing and hire a good man.

Sorry but UH just doesn't have that kind of draw to get these guys. Like the other guy said... it is a good PR move to act like they do.

U of H is using this opportunity to get a lot of P.R. from their search. It's too bad Nebraska does not have an opening, Les would be a great fit in Lincoln. As for Kiffin, his 3 years with Saban looks to have rehabilitated his football career and cost him his marriage.

no, Kiffin's skanking around Tuscaloosa cost him his marriage. Blaming Saban for that is a big, big stretch.

Its great for miles. Can be a big frog in small pond. Will crush recruiting. G5 champ, easy into ny6 bowl. He's going to retire there. Kiffin would run off as soon as p5 beckons.

Supposedly Les isn't interested in a non-Power 5 school and doubt Lane would be either.

I think Les far overestimates his market value. He may have to temper his expectations somewhat.

Les doesn't have a choice, the football world is going to see how crappy of a coach he truly is when he lands his next job. He cheated the system because of the recruiting talent in LSU. But he couldnt coach it.

If Houston hires Leslie Miles, they will suck again.

Let's hope he does get the job and wish him the best. Just saying....
