A few reports surfaced yesterday that LSU freshman linebacker Micah Baskerville suffered a foot injury in practice that would require surgery.

That news was confirmed by 247Sports on Thursday who reports that Baskerville, a high school All-American from Shreveport, LA (Evangel Christian Academy) has already had minor surgery to fix the injury.

LSU freshman middle linebacker Micah Baskerville has suffered a foot injury that required minor surgery and a temporary walking boot, sources tell the Geaux247 staff. The foot injury is one that brings with it a timetable that expects to see him return to the practice field before the season opener against Miami, a source added.

A source indicated that the foot injury is similar to the one former Tiger defensive lineman Christian LaCouture suffered during the 2015 season. After LaCouture had minor surgery for a stress fracture in his foot the Thursday before the Western Kentucky game, the defensive lineman returned to action 16 days later for the team's matchup with Alabama. He recorded three tackles in the game, including a sack.
