It was reported over the weekend by multiple sources that former LSU General Manager Austin Thomas will not be heading to Tennessee after all.

News first broke last Wednesday that Thomas would be leaving LSU for the same job at Tennesse but the "title and responsibility" under new head coach Jeremy Pruitt did not work out for either party, according to Bruce Feldman.

Thomas was promoted to General Manager at LSU last November and has been heavily involved in Recruiting over his past four years in Baton Rouge. It is unclear as to where Thomas will end up next or if he will return to LSU.

I've read all the comments on here and you folks don't get it. He went to Tennessee when Tennessee was Tennessee and he's a proud Volunteer. Think about it this way, what if it was Matt Flynn, Matt Mauck or Jacob Hester a University GM with the same responsibilities as Austin Thomas and doing a phenomenal job now the same job opens up at LSU and they jumped at the chance to come back home, would anyone blame them? Austin Thomas was the most important aspect of the recruiting process that's why he was giving the GM position to stop him from going to USC. And it wasn't just his recruiting skills it was mainly his organizational skills he helps to find talented prospects, he organizes the visits school and in home he was over the whole recruiting process. And remember people he got the #1 S JaCoby Stevens to sign with LSU and he got the #1 MLB Jacob Phillips to flip from Oklahoma in the final hours and both of them was from Tennessee and both was POY in their class and Stevens was the #1 prospect in Tennessee. If the Tigers have a chance to get him back in Baton Rouge then they shouldn't play any games and just get it done because no matter what anybody says he was very important to the success LSU has had in spite of Les Miles hardheadedness. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!PURPLEREIGN?????????

Tennessee not building a great reputation for honoring job offers.

I am wondering why Tennessee have not been good enough to win the SEC east in a long time?

Strange to say the least. Thomas is a smart guy. More to the story I am betting.

Tennessee has become a laughing stock. Don’t forget, they just backed out on a coach they were about to hire because of his alleged involvement with the Sandusky fiasco. So this doesn’t surprise me. I doubt Thomas would accept a position without knowing all the details. I mean, that’s the main part of his job: Details! I think Coach O will be on the phone and tell Austin come on back to your new home: Baton Rouge! We want you, brother!

Wrong. Thomas burnt his bridge with LSU and he won't be coming back.

Don’t understand the negativity. This guy was rated the #2 recruiter in the nation by 247 Sports! Grab him before someone else gets him!

And so what... Stop acting like every school in the nation was beating his door down for his services.. He’s not coming back and that’s a good thing. If he wanted to be here he would have stayed here and not left in the first place.

The part that potentially makes it hard for him to find a home again at LSU is that he already pulled this stunt with an abbreviated move to USC. I understand both desire for promotion and desire to get “home.” But then again, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...

Is LSU the Tennessee of the West or is Tennessee the LSU of the East?

Compare LSU to Tennessee over the last 10-15 years and your question is stupid.

this whole thing doesn't make sense to me...who leaves a job (you presumably like) and accept a job where the job description isn't even established? That's something you understand in the interview process. Otherwise, perhaps UT changed the job description arbitrarily...which wouldn't be a surprise since UT is a train wreck.

Probably wind up at Bama with the other 100 on their coaching staff.
