Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports
LSU coach Brian Kelly is expected to hire Notre Dame Co-Director of Strength & Conditioning Jacob Flint to take over Tommy Moffitt's role, according to Brody Miller with The Athletic.
Miller is also reporting that USC assistant strength and conditioning coach Zaviar Gooden is expected to join Flint's staff at LSU.
Flint, a native of Shepherd, Michigan, played under Kelly at Central Michigan and then went on to coach under him at Cincinnati and Notre Dame. He was named co-director of strength and conditioning at Notre Dame in 2017 and will now get a chance to run his own department at LSU.
Gooden, a native of Austin Texas, played linebacker at Missouri followed by five seasons in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans (2013-15), Detroit Lions (2016), and Arizona Cardinals (2016-17).
He is familiar with both Kelly and Flint as he was a strength and conditioning intern at Notre Dame in 2018. He then went on the be the head sports and fitness trainer at CRA-Z Sports Training in Dallas, Texas from 2019-2020 before joining USC's strength and conditioning staff in 2021.
