LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was named the winner of the Maxwell Award on Thursday for the College Player of the Year.

Burrow, a senior from Athens, Ohio, beat out Ohio State's Chase Young and Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts for the honor.

Burrow has led the Tigers to perfect 13-0 record with a victory in the SEC Championship and the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoffs.

On the season, Burrow has 4,715 passing yards with 48 touchdowns and six interceptions.
