During Saturdays game against the Wildcats, LSU linebacker Kendell Beckwith took a vicious hit from Kentucky wide receiver Dorian Baker.

On Monday, coach Les Miles said that LSU sent video of the hit into the SEC to determine whether or not it was targeting.

Coach Miles also added on Monday that Beckwith is fine and has been cleared to play this weekend. Per Hunter Paniagua with Scout.com:

Yeah, it's pretty clear the shoulder made contact first, the head to head contact was an aftereffect of Beckwith bouncing off the hit. Hard hit, but not dirty. As for whether it's targeting, that bs rule is so subjective and poorly written there's no telling.

I think the helmet hit first, but the intent seemed to be to lead with the arm/shoulder. I used to just say "get over it, it's football," but head trauma is no joke, so I have mixed feelings.

It is helmet to helmet but I wouldnt request the SEC to look at it. You already beat them into the ground who cares what happens to baker. Let the SEC do its job by itself.

It's not a matter of complaining about a "hard hit". I would say the same thing if it were the opposition. It's a matter of player safety. These kids deserve the chance to grow up free of brain related injuries due to helmet to helmet hits. Don't be so naive.

Let's be honest, our guys have made hits like this for a long time. Hell, we did it to the same guy at Moo State two years in a row (Lafell laid the wood, I think). It sucks to be on the other side, but we do the same damn thing. Let's not belly ache anymore than we already do.

Adams hit was right in the stomach of the UK player for one. But I agree that, these calls for targeting are ridiculous at times.
