LSU’s Dean of Students Maria Fuentes-Martin will be holding town hall meetings Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:30pm to get input from students on potential new tailgating rules that could affect them on campus during game days. Per The Advocate:
quote:

Student organizations would have to request and be allotted a space to tailgate on the Parade Grounds, whereas now tailgaters reserve space on the Parade Grounds by showing up first.

Fuentes-Martin said there would be no “common-source containers of alcohol,” like “tiger punch, jungle juice,” or other unlabeled drinks where people aren’t informed about the contents.

There would also be no glass containers allowed anywhere on campus, and no drinking games that encourage rapid consumption of alcohol.

Its all about knowing your limits. If everyone would just have a couple drinks and have a good time rather than seeing who can chug the most then this wouldn't be a problem. That being said though, this campus is taking a turn for the worst. I tend to hear so many more negative things revolving LSU rather than the positives.

And the pussification of America continues. I am so tired of all these imposed rules and regulations. Whatever happened to freedom? If people cannot control themselves, that is their own fault, and after being arrested, injured, or getting alcohol poisoning, I am sure they will learn from their mistakes. We need to get back to being accountable for ourselves, and stop letting others tell us how to act and live our lives.

Maybe we should all wear name tags that way everyone could greet people by their name. It would make the campus a lot more friendlier.

@TaderSalad Are you mad because you can't binge drink at LSU football games anymore? Some very drunk LSU football fans once scared my kid when we were walking by them and they yelled loudly at us. It's about time someone did something about the unruliness of your fanbase. Again, I applaud LSU for their willingness to go against popular opinion simply because it's the right (<--in italics) thing to do.

I attended an LSU/Vandy game several years ago and had the same experience you had. A Vandy student, drunk off his arse approached us screaming and yelling and cursing, only my child is not a wimp and didn't cower in fear, he managed to count the number of times the guy dropped the F-Bomb and very casually told us the number after he was done. Is Vandy's fanbase unruly also? Every fanbase has it's idiots, your's included. So get off your damn high horse and do something about your students that binge drink every game day. That said, I'm against anyone that drinks too much that they become obnoxious to those around them.

@Jon Ham, here is the link to the Emory's enrollement requirements. Sounds like you are raising a well rounded safe space child that should excel here. LINK

One of the problems is they banned the fraternities from having parties at their houses and pushed them to the parade ground. LSU administrators are creating the problems. Add the 21 year old drinking age and it makes it worse.

I am not sure exactly how requiring a permit to tailgate will eliminate binge drinking...sounds to me like you will just have to get a permit to drink your keg going forward.

Couldn't be soon enough. No one needs another season of national disgrace from the student section with "F**K you Saban" "Suck this tiger dick B**tch" all over social media and ESPN. LSU was once known as the greatest college sporting venue in the nation, we need to bring that back.

I believe it's "Suck THAT tiger dick, bitch." You've misplaced the tiger dick. It's pretty clear by your statement that you don't have one.

Not allowing flavored drinks is a good way to reduce the number of black people. Though, it'll be more difficult to roofie girls without jungle juice. Life is about compromise, so I guess I get it.

I propose that Tiger Stadium be renamed Safe Space Stadium. Look, current students, take it from an old grad...you all need to get tanked and rowdy before this meeting and let them know that you won't be bullied into silence. Don't let The Man (ironically a woman) push you around.

So, our top athletic programs are on the brink of imploding and we're worried about who tailgates where? Greek side will still get hammered in their houses and everyone knows that 300k people on campus can't be policed. Sounds to me like someone doesn't have enough to do at work and should be released for budgetary reasons.

Other than the no glass container rule, which I thought LSU already had in place, those are some pretty bad ideas.

So what about groups of people that aren't students that setup on the parade grounds??? You can't police them.
