During an episode of LSU's weekly radio show on Sunday night, school athletic department spokesman Bill Franques said that he is "almost certain" that the Tigers season opener against BYU next Saturday will be moved out of Houston because of the flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Per The Advocate:
quote:

"Almost certainly it will not be played in Houston. He has not been told that officially, but he is almost certain the game will not be able to be played in Houston on Saturday," Bill Franques, an athletic department spokesman, said Sunday night, citing Alleva.

"It most certainly will be moved to another venue. What venue that will be, he wasn’t able to say yet. He knows game officials have been in contact with several different venues and that a decision will be made as soon as possible, naturally as early in the week as possible so that the teams, management officials and everyone, including ESPN, can be prepared for wherever the game may be played."

Betcha a dollar it's at Jerry's World on Monday night. The Preseason DAL v HOU will be moved to Arlington as well. The great humanitarian Jones will donate all profits to Harvey Relief.

Just glad the SEC and Florida aren't involved.

To answer your questions about who has control of the game and why? ESPN and NRG, because they put out the money for this game. It's that simple. I don't like having ESPN control where we play any more than most of you. But when you shell out the loot, you get to call the shots. I just hope they don't ship us over to Alabama to play! Fear not, Tiger fans, the Superdome is the most logical choice and the spokesman for their management group has already stated they can accommodate the game. Also agree that BYU is being very cooperative and not whimping out like Florida last year. Expect an announcement today on official time and location.

The game should and will be moved! These people in Houston will be living in every hotel room they can find. It is a bad situation and we should not be involved in it.

I too do not understand why the media is in charge of this game. The schools should make the decision and the media should accommodate it.

It isn't rocket science. Pick a damn place to play the game so people can arrange accordingly.

Nice to see that BYU actually wants to play the game unlike the "sissies " of U Of Florida.

Dear Florida, Feel free to take notes on how to properly handle an athletic event when it comes to natural disaster.

Honestly, Florida acted like a bunch of little bitches and totally got everything they wanted.

Florida acted like bitches, then was rewarded for it, then even got a win somehow. And for some reason LSU managed to come out looking like the bad guy. Truly galling.
