LSU Sports - MG Miller
Earlier this week Ed Orgeron hinted that a few of the "bigger" wide receivers on the team could move over to tight end to add depth at the position.

On Saturday, Orgeron revealed that junior wide receiver Stephen Sullivan took some reps at the tight end position during Saturday's scrimmage at Tiger Stadium.

Here's what he had to say about the 6'7, 232-pounder. Per NOLA.com:
quote:

"Stephen Sullivan, we're trying to get him some more snaps so we're playing him at tight end to see if he can do it," Orgeron said.

Orgeron said he had a few snaps at tight end on Saturday but didn't know the exact number.

He’s probably more like 6’6 220. They always exaggerate their size

That's it you don't put him in to block the big DEs. He can chip with a RB and haul arse out into the open before anyone gets to the QB. You can also block the DL one way, move the QB to that side and have him get open for big yards. Could be great for short situations or RZ type situations as well. You can also bring him in fresh when you know that DE is gassed, have him block that DE for a play or two here and there. You don't set it up where he's blocking a DE the entire game. If you spread them out then he would have a LB his weight class or a safety on him. Either way it's a mismatch. LSU doesn't have those huge TEs on this team so anyone will struggle with a big DE who can play.

Doesn’t have the body for it... won’t be able to block the big DE in the SEC.

Why not Drake Davis?

This could work out well if we can get him isolated on a LBer. He has WR athleticism with the body of a TE. Nightmare for opposing LBers.

Not a bad move for Sullivan either. He’s physical and proved to be our best blocker at wideout last year . Check out some of the runs and you will see him driving some poor safety or corner 15 yards down field

Needs to put on weight to be effective. 232 will get jammed at the line. Often.

Weight isnt the only determining factor for how a player gets jammed at the line. If he has enough agility he can get around thag issue.

Jordan Reed is 6-2, 245. He seems to do OK. Zach Ertz is 6-5, 250. Evan Engram is 6-3, 240. Trey Burton: 6-3, 235. David Njoku: 6-4, 246. Cameron Brate: 6-5, 240. There are more. The era of the 3rd OT is gone. 6-7, 232 with his speed can more than get it done!
