Head coach Ed Orgeron revealed Monday that starting quarterback Myles Brennan is dealing with a 'significant lower-body injury' and is questionable vs. South Carolina this weekend.

If Brennan is unable to play, Orgeron will have to turn to true freshmen quarterbacks Max Johnson or TJ Finley.

Orgeron said that both Johnson and Finley have been splitting reps in practice and both have looked fantastic so far. Regardless of who starts, Orgeron said he would like to give both players a chance to play on Saturday:
quote:

"They both had fantastic weeks," Orgeron said. "Both of them are very impressive. I believe both of those guys have NFL talent at quarterback. Now they haven't been in a live-action, they're both freshmen. We're going to practice both of those quarterbacks this week. We're going to tell them whoever has the best week is going to start. I plan on giving them both a chance during the game, either one starts, I want to see what they can do. The only way to do it is in live-action.
Orgeron added that he would likely know which one would start later in the week...
quote:

"Thursday's practice we should tell them, Orgeron said. "Friday morning, I'll sit down and talk to them, tell them I believe in them, tell them they'll be fine, just do the things they can do. That's why they were recruited here, why they came here. Both of those guys, I think it really helped they were here last spring. Although we didn't have spring football, they matured a lot, they have been in the meetings a lot, they know our offense. Again, Steve is going to have to see what they can do. He knows what both of them can do. Call the game that they can manage in the game."

LSU has not started a true freshman at quarterback since 2014 when Brandon Harris took on Auburn. Harris was 3-of-14 for 58 yards in a 41-7 loss at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

At least we’ll have more than one QB with real game experience.

Harris may be the worst LSU starting QB ever. The guy had zero football instincts. He constantly looked to the sideline after every play for guidance of what to do next. He reminds me of the guy in the fantasy league who’s looking at the sheet of stickers in the 3rd round because he’s out of ideas.

I'm excited about the frosh playing! We didn't recruit them for nothing. Each has talent. It's about in-game reading defense and sticking to scheme. We'll know pretty quick who can do what.

4 SEC teams ranked. So, actually playing games is over-rated?

Why in the eff are we not reloading? We have too much talent to accept a low. Difference? Apparently our coaching and defense are stuck in the 15 years ago mindset Is this too hard to comprehend? Our stated position is that our talent will overcome. But our scheme absolutely sucks!!!!! Here is to being to drunk to comprehend this!!!!!
