Former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu has reportedly signed a contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals that will make him the highest-paid safety in the NFL. Per NFL.com:
quote:

The Cardinals have agreed to terms with the NFL's most versatile defensive back on a five-year, $62.5 million extension averaging more than $12 million annually, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via sources informed of the deal. The contract calls for $40 million in guarantees, Rapoport added.

It's telling that the organization rewarded Mathieu as the game's highest-paid safety despite a December ACL tear that could leave him at less than peak form entering the 2016 season.

Hard work ALWAYS pays off... maybe not to the tune of $62 million... but, it pays off.

Im having a hard time keeping the Saints as my NFL team with the representation LSU has here in AZ. LSU always has, and always will be #1. Saints will always be my home favorite, but I'm loving the NoFlyZone. Geaux get em, HB. Make us proud

This really is a great story. I remember just hoping he wouldn't end up in prison, and now look at him. Johnny football, please take notes.

How can this be? Every Bama fan said he wouldnt make it to the nfl and he got exposed in the BCSCG when he gave up 4 catches for ZERO TDS.

It's heartening to think what he could have done for LSU given another year.

So happy for him that he got his life together and made something of himself. I think a lot of that is owed to PP7's tutelage.

Pumped to see this. Just needs to keep his head straight since they seem to be and have been loosening the originally very tight reins.
