LSU quarterback Joe Burrow broke Rohan Davey's 2001 single-season passing record (3,347) on Saturday night vs. Ole Miss and stands at 3,687 through 10 games.

On Sunday, Davey congratulated Burrow on setting the new record with this message on Facebook and video on Twitter:

quote:

Huge congratulations to my guy Joe on breaking the single season passing record. I’ve had the honor and privilege of holding this record for 18yrs.

Few things makes me prouder than being the quarterback and leader of the 2001 record setting team! That season and team many believe laid the foundation for the Rebirth of this great program and the greatness we are witnessing today! Congrats to Coach O,the staff and entire team! Joe it has been a pleasure watching you lead and play the quarterback position! Nothing but love and continued success my dude!! See you in New Orleans!!! Geauxxxxxxx Tigers!!

Classy dude, enjoyed watching him throw the ball all over the field that year.

With 300-lb DL hanging on him and with a hobbled knee/ankle(?) he would still flick his wrist and send a dart down the field 40+ yards (most likely to Josh Reed). Rohan THE MAN!!!

Can’t say it enough, Rohan is a class act. I wish his pro career would have lasted longer, but he does have those two rings.

Few QB threw the long ball as well, and as high, as Rohan did.

Ro had some touch. He would have loved this offense.

He would have loved this offense, Mettenberger would have loved this office, OBJ and Jarvis Landry would have loved this offense, Rueben Randle, Wendell Davis, Early Doucet, Josh Reed, Terrence Tolilver, Russell Shepard, Trendon Holliday, Demetrius Byrd etc etc etc This offense with the 2011 team defense would have hoisted the trophy in New Orleans. Make no mistake.

Reed is my favorite Tiger because I believe he was one of the best to play the game in college at his position. But after this year, he may drip to 1 b behind Burrow. Lol

Ro was fun to watch! A classy move on his part. And he is right about that '01 team being the one that brought the Tigers to the last 18 years...
