Florida announced Thursday that they have chosen LSU as their homecoming opponent for the 2017 season. The game will be played on Oct. 7. Per FlordiaGators.com:

The Gators own a 67-24-2 record in Homecoming games all time, including a 25-3 mark since 1989. The last time Florida and LSU met in a Homecoming game was October 7, 2006, a 23-10 win for the Gators.

The rivalry between LSU and Florida intensified last season after both schools and fan bases traded jabs when the originally scheduled Oct. 8 game in Gainesville was postponed due to a storm.

The game was rescheduled for Nov. 19 and was played in Baton Rouge. The Gators made a goal-line stop in that game to win 16-10 and clinched the SEC East title.

After the game, Florida head coach Jim McElwain added fuel to fire by saying "LSU got what they deserved."

Gators haven't been relevant since Urban Meyer left. LSU was the Gators 'signature' win in 2016. Hate to break this to ya Gator fans, you won't be relevant in 2017.

Ooh I can wait for LSU to bash Florida's head in. John Snow said it best, "The enemy I speak of won't wait out the coming storm! He brings the storm!" That storm is LSU! Get ready for some heavy rain on your bright sunny homecoming Florida! Winter is coming!

Good, it will be less likely they try to cancel if a hurricane is 100 miles away....
