Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
ESPN.com SEC Reporter Edward Aschoff ranked the top five running back in the SEC for 2017 and pegged LSU's Derrius Guice at No. 1. Here's what he had to say:
quote:

1. Derrius Guice, LSU: As the sort of No. 2 running back in LSU's offense, Guice led the SEC with 1,387 yards and 7.6 YPC. He also had 15 touchdowns. Guice might not have been the bruiser that future first-rounder Leonard Fournette was for the Tigers, but he's the ultimate slasher and could hit a mighty long run in an instant. He can cut on a dime, while still being able to level a defender with his strength. He had six 100-yard games last year, all of them clearing the 135-yard mark. Also, 41.8 of his 115.6 YPG came after contact last year. Guice is getting a ton of first-round love, just like his predecessor, and he'll be one of the nation's most exciting players to watch in 2017.
Here is the complete Top 5, according to Aschoff:

1. Derrius Guice, LSU
2. Nick Chubb, Georgia
3. Bo Scarbrough, Alabama
4. Kamryn Pettway, Auburn
5. Ralph Webb, Vanderbilt

If Fournette hadn't played last year, Guice would have easily had over 2000 yards rushing and 25+ TDs. I'm expecting those kind of numbers this coming season.

Of course he is, funny how Bama fans were quick to criticize LF for having 1 injury when this guy cannot stay healthy. He may have flashes, but name a season where Bo wasn't hurt. Of course this will never end with ESPN so bought into that school.

@33inNC - the difference is Bama fans aren't blowing Scarbrough up and saying he's the best back in a generation, etc. etc. LSU fans did do that and that's why Bama fans gave LSU fans grief.

@DoubleDown- Oh, I beg to differ, have you seen the hype this due has? But, Bama fans do that to ALL of their players, so I guess it is par of the course there. We must remember, Alabama has the best player at each position every year, do not question the master...
