Ed Orgeron's Proposed 2-Year Contract Extension Would Pay Him $4 Million Per Year

Ed Orgeron's proposed contract extension that would pay him $4 million a year (a 14 percent increase) with $400,000 in added incentives is on the agenda for the LSU Board of Supervisors meeting this Wednesday (March 20).

Orgeron currently makes $3.5 million a year. Per NOLA.com:

The proposed contract would pay Orgeron $4 million a year — a 14 percent increase — with $400,000 in added incentives.

Orgeron’s buyout would increase to $10 million, with the amount decreasing $250,000 each month through March 2021. After March 2021, the buyout would remain $4 million for the rest of the contract.

Much like season ticket prices in the NFL, I think his contract should have different payouts depending on which games he wins. If he wins them all then he makes 5mil. If he loses to bama and another SEC school, he's stuck at 3.75. I think this is a fair contract for what he's done so far.

If he sustains success or actually beats Bama then LSU will gladly pony up. Prove it first. Also 4 mil is a shite load for O.
