The Advocate is reporting that new defensive line coach Ed Orgeron will receive a two-year contract with a base salary of $450,000 per year.

Orgeron’s contract includes a clause that stipulates that he would be paid for just six more months if Les Miles were no longer the coach at LSU.

Contract details for Kevin Steele, LSU's new defensive coordinator, have not been announced but should be soon.

Steele’s contract details were not listed in the board’s agenda. University spokesman Ernie Ballard said the Board of Supervisors has not yet received Steele’s final contract from the athletic department. He anticipates details of Steele’s contract to be added to the agenda next week.

Orgeron’s contract is similar to his predecessor, Brick Haley. Haley made $445,000 a year. Haley has been moved to an administrative role within the department.
LSU assistants Frank Wilson, Adam Henry, and Corey Raymond will receive raises and contract extensions. Tight end coach Steve Ensminger will receive an extension but his salary will remain the same.

Recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Frank Wilson will receive a $10,000 raise to $660,000 a year and a three-year extension through March 2018. Three assistants – tight ends coach Steve Ensminger, defensive backs coach Corey Raymond and receivers coach Adam Henry – got two-year deals running through March 2017.

Ensminger will receive the same base pay of $300,000 a year. Henry received a $55,000 raise to $375,000, and Raymond got a $10,000 boost to $310,000. Haley had signed a new contract, sources said, but it was not in the board’s agenda for approval.

Agree. The 6 month clause is a pretty strong message to Lester that he is on the clock. He has likely been told that in person and the contractual clause reinforced that discussion.

He also needs to end the white collar welfare on his staff by consolidating a few of the positions.

I'll bet that Coach O earns a raise after his first year. He is going to kick arse.

Let's hope so.

Les must be on the serious hot seat if you put that 6 month stipulation in a 2 year contract
