Josh Edwards of CBS Sports released an early 2023 NFL Mock Draft last month and is projecting two LSU Football players to be selected in the mid-first round.

Edwards has defensive lineman Jaquelin Roy going No. 13 overall to the Oakland Raiders and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte as the first receiver drafted at No. 15 overall to the New England Patriots.
quote:

Round 1 - Pick 13
Jaquelin Roy DT
LSU • JR • 6'3" / 315 LBS

Las Vegas is in need of long-term interior defenders and Roy happens to be stepping into a more significant role for the Tigers. With edge rushers B.J. Ojulari and Ali Gaye working on the edge, Roy should be free to push the pocket up the middle.

Round 1 - Pick 15
Kayshon Boutte WR
LSU • JR • 6'0" / 205 LBS

Boutte is a physical wide receiver who has some similarities to Ja'Marr Chase. Even with Tyquan Thornton and DeVante Parker, New England's wide receivers do not particularly excite me. There is an opportunity to shed some salary cap. Nelson Agholor is a free agent after the season, while Kendrick Bourne and Parker are slated to hit free agency a year later.

I'll be shocked if Boutte makes it to 15.

LSU has a chance to have 2 on defense with the other being Ojulari. I know they will leave for money, but it would be crazy if all them came back next year like Clemson's DL did to destroy Bama in the national championship.

And at this time last year they had Spencer Rattler as the heisman winner and #1 pick.

Yeah.

LSU then Florida then Georgia. Does anybody know where he is going this year?

Has he put up any numbers at a school not named LSU? What a disappointment this kid was. And he isn't getting drafted. Too many questions with unfavorable answers.

Because it's a potential projection. Arik Gilbert is a freak athlete, and had he not did what he did, he would have come into this season at LSU as the top TE prospect. Even through the nonsense of 2020, with a full 12 game regular season, he would have broken LSU's single season TE record in catches and yards. Had he had Brennan all year, you're looking at something close to 50-55 catches for 700+ yards and 6+ TDs, in 10 freaking games, for a true freshman TE! Looking at UGA's spring game, he hasn't missed a beat. Guy is going to finish with good numbers and that crazy athleticism is going to put him in the first round.

If you just rewatch the Bama game from 2021 you will see why Roy is so high on boards. He had 3 sacks in that game and was disruptive against the natty runner ups. He also grades extremely high on pro football focus

No chance Roy goes at 13

There's almost a whole year left.
Do people get paid to do this, and are they working from home?

Joe Burrow was probably not on the list to be drafted in spring 2019. I place little value on this list.

was projected as a 6th round pick by Mel Diaper IIRC

Thought for sure one of them was going to be Ojulari but I'll take it

I saw a mock a couple days ago with Boutte, BJ and Roy (in that order) all going in the 1st. Roy was around pick 30. Really didn't know Roy's stock was that high, let alone top 15.

I like him too, but yeah, where did that come from?

He’s a big time run stuffer like Tyler shelvin or something similar, but he can rush the passer . Makes sense, most of the guys that are his size and that kind of run stuffer and block eater usually don’t bring much of a pass rush to the table

I’ve been keeping an eye on his name over the last two seasons and it seems like this is a guy that’s risen quickly but not unexpectedly. The nfl also keeps an eye on guys that had great high school tape. Believe it or not. I never knew they scouted high school talent in the nfl , but they do
