Brian Kelly's Longtime DL Coach Mike Elston Is Staying At Notre Dame

ND happens to be far away from winning an NC. They have been in the playoffs and have been throttled. They are not true contenders but they do have a much easier road to the playoffs than any SEC school.

So, logically, Kelly = Saban??

I think Kelly is a very good HC. I'm not sure he's a great fit for LSU but time will tell. That said, I'm a little concerned that no assistants ( the good ones) chose to follow him. Not sure if they truly believe in what they're building at ND or if they think the expectations at LSU could mean they're fired within a year or so. Coordinators and assistants get fired everywhere but especially in the SEC. BK is about to feel the most pressure he's ever dealt with in his entire coaching career.

No assistants are choosing to follow him bc they're decent people. How many coaches leave their schools while 11-1 and on the verge of getting into the CFP?

The line is getting a bit cliché every time (insert name of coach or recruit) decides to take go elsewhere. LSU LITERALLY JUST GOT A NORTHERN COACH.

Too much is being made about whether or not BK will be able to recruit well in the SEC. LSU recruits itself. ND is more of a national recruiting brand and if you look at their roster it shows. However, LSU consistently has rosters with the majority of their kids predominantly from Louisiana but the good thing is it's a talent rich state. LSU usually only needs to pull a few kids from FL, TX, etc. that are big time recruits to consistently finish with a top 10 class. Right now, although ND has a 4th ranked class, they have 22 commits. Most other schools in the top 16 have 14-16 commits. ND has 1 5* commit so far and about 16 4*'s. When the dust settles, I don't think ND will have a top 5 class. There are atleast 4 or 5 schools currently behind them with less commits and more 5* players. Once those schools fill their class, they'll easily start moving ahead of ND. Enough can't be said about MF and his inexperience as a HC. He'll bring defensive recruits to ND but it's a tough sell on the offensive side. Currently he's pretty much involved in the D recruitment. Hopefully, he gets the HC gig and proves to be great at it. I think ND deserves that bcuz BK potentially left a playoff team RIGHT BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS. LSU fans would've gone nuts if we were in that predicament.
