LSU coach Brian Kelly appeared on ESPN's SportsCenter this week and previewed Saturday's matchup vs. No. 9 Ole Miss.

Kelly was asked about last year's track meet between the two schools and commented on what it will take to slow down Ole Miss' tempo offense.

His big takeaway for having success on defense: throwing them off schedule by winning on first down and tackling in space:
quote:

"We have to get them off schedule and tackle them in space," Kelly said.

"It starts with first down. You have to win on first down. If you give up chunks of yardage on first down, they control the tempo and the pace of play. They put you in a difficult situation because you are on your heels."

"We have to get our cleats in the ground and tackle in space, which we didn't do last year. And put them behind the chains. They want to do the same to us."

"But it starts with us on first down. Tackling in space is going to be at a premium on Saturday night."

We gotta go toe to toe with Kiffin on this! Make it obviously ridiculous if we have to. They slow us, we near bout stop their azz every play they speed it up. No shame until this is fixed...somehow down the road.
