LSU defensive back Sevyn Banks suffered a spinal cord bruise while defining the opening kickoff vs. Auburn last week, coach Brian Kelly said on Monday.

Kelly added that there no structural issues with the injury which is good news and puts Banks in a similar recovery timeline as safety Major Burns.
quote:

"The diagnosis is a spinal cord bruise, which puts him similar to Major Burns' situation where there was a bruise. Nothing else. No structural issues. That's probably going to take, you know, five, six weeks before we can get him back."

"Now, Major Burns starts -- so talking about similar patterns here, Major Burns starts running today. He will be outside running with us."

"Next week he'll begin noncontact drills, football noncontact drills with us. There will be a similar protocol and procedure, provided there's no setbacks along the way."

"So, really fortunate and really appreciate all the help that we got from our own medical team and certainly Auburn's as well in what was a very scary situation."

Thank God. Take a medical redshirt young man. It could set up real nice for you next year.

Hope Sevyn Banks makes a faster recovery than expected and get to see him play his game doing what he enjoys out there with his team mates

I think major Burns or sage Ryan was the one that got burned on one play vs auburn where the auburn wr was wide open and auburn wr scored so easy. I would like to see if lsu can tighten up their defense early in games not just in late 2nd qtr and after half time and same with their offense in sec games.
