LSU's Brian Kelly was on the SEC Coaches Teleconference Wednesday morning and provided injury updates during the bye week:

-Safety Major Burns (neck) will be cleared for contact on Monday and is in the game plan for the Alabama game next Saturday, Kelly said.

-Wide receiver Jack Bech (back) wants to play vs. Alabama and told Kelly yesterday “no doubt” he’ll play.

-Running back John Emery Jr. (leg) is day-to-day with an Achilles issue.

I used to do triathlons and fought Achilles and calf issue. Only thing that helped was horse lineament. No kidding. Smelled awful but it worked

Not necessarily. I'm no doctor, but my understanding is the severity can vary. Torn achilles tendon? Done for year, may never regain the athleticism you had before. But it's also possible to have a low grade achilles strain that can heal in 2-3 weeks.

There is also Achilles tendinitis. Can be very painful but full recovery is normal.

I had one of these in high school. That thing could haunt him for a year.
