There's a reason they are called "style" points. People would have said the 2019 Tigers were a good team not a great team. But beating the opponents how they did amd by how many points made the team great.

If you score 70 points in 3 games, none of that matters if you end up losing 3 or 4 games.

style point have always mattered, and should matter. Going undefeated by winning every game (even against the crappy teams) by 1 point is different than winning every game by 30 points. And vice versa - going 10-2 by losing by 1 point to the two strongest opponents is different than 10-2 and getting blown out both times. Style points do indeed matter.
