Many College Football writers, analyst, fans, and even former players have been very critical of the Tigers and the coaching staff after Saturday's historic 24-21 loss to Troy.

On Sunday morning former LSU player and current ESPN College Football analyst Booger McFarland shared his opinions on the Tigers via Twitter and didn't hold back.

McFarland called out pass rusher Arden Key, saying that the junior is playing for the NFL Draft and not for LSU. He also had criticism for first-year offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

The criticism from the College Football world is expected as LSU has gone from No. 13 to unranked in just five weeks with two embarrassing losses and no signature win to hang their hat on.

Coaching concerns, issues on offense, defense, special teams, depth issues, and injuries could mean that things will get worse before it gets better. Add seven straight SEC games that are coming up for the Tigers and it could be a long season in Baton Rouge.

Well. Key is not doing a good job at that either

I don't even know why Key is on the field if you watch the film of game he does not go full speed.

Sadly, the speed you see may be he full speed nowadays. But yes, the effort is lacking
user avatar
Lexman179 months
Agreed. I think NFL teams will watch this and decide against using a high pick on someone who doesn't give full effort.

You mean just like those NFL teams did with Clowney by drafting him 1st overall?
user avatar
Lexman179 months
Yeah. I thought about Clowny after my post. You're probably right, GeauxTigersLee. In the NFL, if you have potential, they will take a chance on you. Especially Jerry Jones.

frick you Booger, you endorsed O for this job

Playing for the NFL? If he's auditioning for 5th or 6th round, he's doing a marginal job of it. There are several players who seem disinterested at best.

When his helmet came off Saturday during a play, he stopped playing and threw his hands up as if to say, "don't hit me". I know it's dangerous when your helmet comes off but you usually see guys keep playing anyway until the play is over. Im not so much blaming him for doing it but, it struck me as unusual
user avatar
GeauxTigersLee79 months
That's the rule, and we were penalized several times last year costing us 15 yards for playing after the helmet came off.

Because if you continue play it is a penalty.... He did the right thing.

But he's been decent against he run from what I've seen.

LOL he's played himself out of around $30 Million so far so that's not working well for him either.

Booger lost all the credibility after his endorsement for O. They only care about access and being included. I would not listen to his "expert" comments.

I'm not down on BM after all he's being paid high dollars to generate sports news. I am down on the decision makers in Baton Rouge.

If he's 100% physically (which I assume he is since he's on the field), he's definitely loafing.

Football is violent and deadly on occasion. In its infancy players died often. Players who engage in it are brave in a way.

Booger McFarland needs to STFU. He was the guy who lead the charge against Les Miles and got us into this mess. He is Alabama fan and a Nick Saban fan. Not a LSU fan and an unworthy LSU alum. He only played for himself when he was here and not for us at LSU.

You made it way too easy for us to tell youre either retarded or have no idea what youre talking about

Booger was in the NFL before Saban ever coached at LSU. He is a fan of the way Saban coaches. He is not a Bama fan. Too say he he is an unworthy LSU alum is show your ignorance. He cares about LSU football just as much as any of us fans do.

Why don't you STFU! You don't know what you're talking about.

Booger has to be a friend of Orgeron. He's not helping any at this point. I've yet to see him blame O for anything. It's Canada's offense that's the cause of the lack of toughness according to him.
user avatar
DeafVallyBatnR79 months
Booger was not a supporter of the Orgeron hire. He may be a friend now but not when it was happening.

Who cares? Anyone who misses 6 months of football for unexplained reasons, gains too much weight, and is generally a head case doesn't need to be around the team anyway. He'll get drafted in a middle round and be out of the league within 2 years.

Key is fat, looks out of shape and is noticeably less explosive this season than last. Take it for what it is but he is not the 2016 version right now.

Key should not be playing
