Wilson Alexander of The Advocate reports that a trail date of July 7 has been set for LSU running back Trey Holly after he was charged in connection with a shooting last year in Union Parish.
quote:

Holly's trial will begin July 7 in Farmerville, his attorney Mike Small told The Advocate after a hearing Wednesday. He faces one felony count of illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrumentality.

Small said Holly will continue to plead not guilty, and he "fully expects" the case to proceed to a jury trial.

Holly and two others were arrested after a shooting took place Feb. 9, 2024, at the Union Villa Apartments in Farmerville. Two people were injured by gunshot wounds, officials said at the time.
Holly has been suspended indefinitely since the incident but is still on LSU's official roster and was recently listed as one of 39 players on the 2024 SEC Academic Honor Roll.

He has the best attorney available. If Mike Small can’t get him out off this, nobody can.

Good kid from a good family. Got caught up in a bad situation is what I was told. Figure that’s why Coach hasn’t just cut ties with him.

So much for a speedy trial. Didn't this happen like a year ago?

Regardless this has got to be agony for everyone involved to take this long to get to trial.

Hopes he beats this wrap at that trail date

If the prosecutors lose this case, Trey should sue for malicious prosecution.

Ignorant take. To win at trial, you need to prove the facts beyond a reasonable doubt. But to bring the charge in the first place you only need probable cause, which is a considerably lower standard of proof. So just because you lose the case doesn't mean the charges weren't justified.

If he is indeed innocent, it is a shame that all this time has been wasted. I see that it appears he is still attending classes and is on the honor roll?

“Two people were injured by gunshot wounds.”
Really?

Not sure what you mean by really. Were they really shot, or were there really two?

Because gunshot wounds are the injury. They do not cause the injury as that statement implies.
