Elite four-star linebacker and current Oklahoma commit Jacob Phillips will make an unofficial visit to LSU on Jan. 20, according to SEC Country.

As LSU attempts to flip the U.S. Army All-American linebacker, it will try to emulate an official visit for Phillips and his family. It’ll be their first trip to Baton Rouge after the 6-foot-3.5, 228-pounder added his offer from the Tigers last June.

LSU remains confident in its ability to land Phillips with the visit. Getting him on campus was the staff’s main objective for much of the Contact Period in December, when Dave Aranda reached out to the linebacker and GM/area recruiter Austin Thomas went in-home with him.
Phillips, a 6-3, 228-pound prospect from Nashville, TN remains committed to Oklahoma but said last week that LSU is the 'only school I'm still letting talk to me.'
quote:

"They really want me bad, that's the only (other) school I'm still letting talk to me," Phillips said.

"They have been after me for a while. When coach Les Miles left, that's when it really picked up. As soon coach Orgeron was the head coach, he was up at my school."

Immediate playing time plus learning under coach Aranda coupled with his family being able to drive to LSU to watch him play...I can't see why he would want to go anywhere else.

I really hope we can flip this guy. This would be huge. It he comes to campus, I'm sure we can do just that. Lets hope Oklahoma doesn't persuade him not to take the visit.

This is looking really good for lsu. Him and willie gay would come here together and we would catch momentum right here before signing day. We will always recruit with the best but we need top notch linebackers for aranda to coach/scheme up.

Any linebacker that passes in a chance to play immediately under Dave Aranda is obviously not very bright. That's why I feel good about landing Phillips. Everything I've heard about him says he's smart and athletic. Combine that with Aranda's development of players and the future is bright for any defenders he coaches.

lol, a commit means NOTHING as evidenced by his visit so why even bother with the whole "commit" thing in the first place. just sign or don't sign and stop the song and dance of saying who is a commit
