I'm not sure there is anything more ambiguous about the portal than high school. At least half of these kids are massively overrated and will wash out (and half will be studs). If you are picking guys who have proven themselves in college (as opposed to "former 4 stars" who rode the pine), you can derisk portal additions much more easily.
