Soon-to-be new LSU defensive line coach Dennis Johnson was in Marshall, TX on Thursday night to visit with four-star LSU OL/DL commit Chasen Hines.

The visit by Johnson, who will replace Pete Jenkins as DL coach next year, comes just one day before Hines will make his way over to LSU this weekend for his official visit.

Hines, a 6-3, 335-pound prospect from Marshall HS is rated No. 17 offensive guard in the country, according to ESPN and the No. 22 defensive tackle in the country, according to 247Sports.

Some believe the Texas Longhorns could still in the mix for Hines despite his verbal pledge to LSU. If everything goes as planned, Hines will be signing with LSU next week.

Hines is a part of large group of commits and a few uncommitted targets that will take official visits to LSU this weekend.

I would like to see this kid on the DL after a couple of years in strength and conditioning. He runs a 5.48 but could easily get that down a little. He really has no ceiling. He is correct in naming himself a beast.

A big man that can play o-line or d-line is very advantageous! You know how the injury bug hits every year. And ranked highly at both positions! We need this man! Welcome aboard!
