February 24, 201513 Comments
LSU received some great news on Tuesday with surprise commitment for the No. 1 cornerback in the country.
Five-star cornerback Saivion Smith was on ESPN's RecruitingNation Tuesday to announce his top five schools, which included Clemson, LSU, Florida, Florida State, and Virginia Tech.
After announcing his top 5, Smith reached over and grabbed an LSU hat and said that he is officially committing to LSU.
Smith, a 6-2, 180-pound prospect from Saint Petersburg, FL (IMG Academy) is rated as the No. 1 cornerback in the country by 247Sports, ESPN, and Scout.
LSU extended an offer to Smith back on January 21st, and the five-star cornerback was on campus this past weekend for LSU's junior day event.
The Tigers now have 7 commitments for the 2016 class.
