Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports
LSU's over/under win total for the 2017 football season is set at 9, according to Vegas sports book CG Technology, and ESPN College Football writers Edward Aschoff and Sam Khan Jr. are both taking the under.

Here is what they had to say:
quote:

LSU: 9

Aschoff: Spring games don't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but in the weather-shortened game that LSU had, the offense didn't look very good at all. Derrius Guice is great, but who's going to take pressure off of him? And that defense lost a lot, especially at linebacker and in the secondary. UNDER

Khan: The schedule makes a 5-0 start quite feasible, meaning the Tigers would need to win four of their last seven to hit the number. There are still too many question marks -- particularly offensively -- at this moment in time for me to go over here. I think this is probably a nine-win team, but it’s no fun taking a push, so... UNDER
LSU finished 8-4 (5-3 SEC) last season. New head coach Ed Orgeron took over the team after the Tigers started 2-2 (1-1 SEC).

No 'rose colored glasses' here. Points regarding question marks are spot on. Having said that, I like the Udawg role. We win '10'!!!

I don't put much faith in what writers or those who post think who have really never played the game. Most OC tin wang to tear down certain players, but would never have the stones to go out on the field. I have no clue how the team will do, but I don't base it on half of a spring game in inclimate weather.

Gambling isn't in my blood, but if over under is 9 and they pick under, aren't they actually saying it's more likely LSU finishes with 8 or fewer wins than 10 or more wins, with 9 wins being a push?

These are the same bunch of non-participants that felt that Les Miles was turning out a great product!?!

ESPN doesn't report fact based news anymore. Nothing but highlights and opinions.

NOBODY reports fact based news anymore. Highlight and opinion style reporting has worse consequences outside of sports news...

Almost everyone across the board was surprised that LSU would hire someone like O though.

Can anyone link me to where it says writers will back up their mouths with quitting their jobs when LSU wins 10 or more?

They need motivation, they need a chip on their shoulder, why wouldnt they? New coach, offense, rb coach..etc... lots of question marks.... this is a question whether a bunch of Louisiana talent can do what it has done the past two decades, or if it was because of a few coaches that made them great... question is, was it the talent? Or the coaches... im guessing all u need is a motivator.. and we still have that.. plus great position coaches... im betting the over...

I find it refreshing that we are not overrated to start the year...much better to exceed realistic expectations than spend the whole year struggling keep up with unrealistic expectations.

ESPN is stupid because they don't think we'll win the national championship. Did I do it right?

Way too many question marks on this team. I think LSU loses a minimum of three games. The schedule is tough. Aranda is great but losing the top four players will hurt and it will show. Plus possibly not having Key. Offense will struggle at the WR position and QB postion, again. Not to mention how Ed O will handle the pressure of being the actual HC since he hasn't been in quite a while

My thoughts exactly. We have a few RBs but there is a huge drop off after Guice. Dee Anderson is probably our most talented WR, he was nowhere to be found at the Spring game & he has been in the dog house. Our Offensive line is always being shuffled around.

So you're saying there's a chance we get ten wins?

ESPN. What a joke! The Tigers are loaded not only with top talent, but also with top position coaches as well. I see a great season coming up! If Miles could average 10 wins a season, just think what this Staff can do!

Not quite sure what people are expecting this year with Etling as the starter. Once Narcisse takes over next year things will start rolling.

Narcisse won't start next year. Brennan will be at that spot. He will push everyone in the QB room when he steps on campus. If he would have enrolled early he might have started as a true freshman.

Nobody knows how teams will do but evaluating teams based on 1/2 of spring game is crazy, fake news.

Correct. This is why it's just a few writers opinions. None of us know how any team is going to do this season. It's all guesswork.
