LSU head coach Will Wade addressed the media on Monday night and announced that freshman forwards Galen Alexander and Mayan Kiir will take a leave of absence from the team for the rest of the season.

Alexander will look at other schools at the end of the season but Kiir has an opportunity to return to the team after the season, according to coach Wade.

LSU's first-year coach also announced that freshman guard Brandon Rachal and sophomore forward Wayde Sims have been suspended for one game for a violation of team rules and will not travel to Tennesse for Wednesday's game vs. the Vols.

Wade said that the incidents that led to the discipline of the four players were not related.

I hate to here about Sims and Racheal getting into trouble. I hope they both learn from this and come back with great attitudes

Implementing rules holds no leverage if they are not enforced and it is apparent Uncle Willie is willing to sacrifice wins for discipline. I applaud him for this. He is setting a standard that he demands LSU players function within both on the court and off. If a player isn't able to do so, then he is showing them the door and that's the way you change a culture within a team and build a foundation from which you can build a solid program where winning games is a byproduct of the standards and culture. I don't know what exactly has led to two true freshmen being cut from the team, but I trust Uncle Willie and know that he has learned from some of the best coaches in college basketball.

Was a recent rap video surfacing with Rachal and Sims in the video on YouTube with local rappers, which showed a lot going on with those two present, don’t know though if this caused the suspension between the two.

I like this. We go on the road and get blown out by Auburn, two days later there is a shake up.. Not sure if it is related, but he is trying to send a message. It's all part of the growing pains.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t just kick two players off the team to “shake things up”

That’s kind of what it sounds like. Coaches in control don’t frick around when players break the rules.

No. He's trying to keep his players from being bad asses. He wants them to be men. That may be confusing to you, but most of us here understand the difference.
