VCU head coach Will Wade has emerged as one of the front-runners for the LSU job, according to ESPN.

quote:

VCU head coach Will Wade has had discussions with LSU about replacing Johnny Jones and has emerged as one of the front-runners for the job, sources told ESPN.

Wade, 34, has been the head coach of the Rams for two seasons, taking over when Shaka Smart left for Texas in 2015. VCU is 51-20 under Wade, making back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances. Wade was also the head coach at Chattanooga for two seasons, going 40-25 overall and 27-7 in the Southern Conference.

Hiring a VCU coach is a great idea. Turned out well for Alabama and Texas...

That may be the case chimneylooker. I may have misread the article. Anyway, since no one else wants to tell us who they want: Wade has taken VCU to 2 straight NCAA tournaments! Sounds much better than anything we've had in a while!

I also read the Tigers are looking at Tom Creen, the IU coach that was just fired. Do we want a coach who was recently canned? Or a young up and comer like Wade. I really don't know on this one. I'll leave it to you: Tiger Fans! Who ya got?

From what I've read Crean contacted LSU through a third party to express interest. I haven't read where LSU has reciprocated the interest, they may have, I just haven't read it.

Honestly what if we shut down the BBall program and focused on Football and Baseball? We'll just be doing this coach search in another 5 years after losing money and getting embarrasssd. LSU is not a basketball school, never will he and we don't want it to be. All of those are #ThugU

LSU basketball has 10 sec championships. Football has 11. LSU used to be quite the basketball school. Just needs the right coach.

Sensible choice: A young up and comer with no baggage. Can Alleva find a way not to screw this up?
