Jeff Goodman of Stadium is reporting that LSU forward Shareef O'Neal is entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Shareef's father is former LSU and NBA star Shaquille O'Neal.

O'Neal transferred to LSU from UCLA in 2020. He played in 2021 but had his season cut short because of a foot injury. He averaged 2.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 14 games this season as a backup.

O'Neal joins Brandon Murray and Xavier Pinson as the third LSU player to enter the transfer portal since Will Wade was fired and Matt McMahon was hired.

If you have a brand new coaching staff at the school you play for, guess what? There’s your fresh start.

If you want a new start, why not give McMahon a try? The guy did well at Murray State. And Shareef is guaranteed significant playing time. This makes little sense.

I wish him the best, but it might be time to think about his life's work. It hasn't really worked out at two schools. Not everyone can be Shaq, or even a starter in college. There's no shame in that. Lucky for him, dad is worth major millions.

He'll need a low Mid-Major for extended PT.

If you thought LSU was having football roster problems then just wait how fast basketball becomes a third tier sport again

Are you allowed to transfer as much as you want? I thought you could only do it once with no penalty.

@mdomingue for real. If son Wade would have done it right and have a middle man to do his dirt....and stay off phones...he would have been cool and still had his job lol. Dude must have never watched a gangster movie ever.
