A new and very large video board has been installed at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center to usher in the Will Wade era at LSU.

The video board will be the largest in college basketball once the installation is completed later this month. Per LSUSports.net:

The videoboard will feature two sideline high-definition screens that each measure 42 feet by 21 feet for a total of 882 square feet of video space per board. The baseline facing boards, also in HD, will measure 24 feet by 20.5 feet for 984 square feet of video space. In all, the videoboard will give fans 2,748 square feet of HD video.

Alleva said the videoboard, priced at over $3 million, was fully funded by the Tiger Athletic Foundation and will be used for sporting events and other major events in the Maravich Center including LSU’s commencement ceremonies, which take place three times a year in the venue.

Here's what the old one looked like:

Every LSU fan who likes this but made fun of Auburn's Jumbotron is a bigger hypocrite than reverend freeze. For the record, I think LSU's board looks great.

What is it with the massive video boards? WHY? Does the crowd need that much to look at? It only makes the players and court look smaller to those who are 1/3 of the way up the stands and above.

Someone needs to shop this with a more accurate representation of the amount of advertising space that will be allotted. "Fan-expense" Vs "fan-experience" type stuff that's depicted.
