Talented LSU Baseball signee Cameron Johnson is reportedly not signing a professional contract with the St. Louis Cardinals after the club selected him with the 605th overall pick in the 20th round of the MLB Draft this week, according to Zach Nagy with SI.com.
Instead, Cameron will make his way to Baton Rouge as the highest-ranked prospect to come to LSU.
Johnson, a left-handed pitcher from Upper Marlboro, Md., is the No. 11 overall player and the No. 2 left-handed pitcher in the country. Dylan Crews was ranked No. 13 overall when he came to Baton Rouge. Per SI.com:

“He’s a Tiger at heart and extremely excited to play for Jay! Let’s Geaux!”
When Johnson was selected by the Cardinals, it was described as a “Hail Mary” play by the organization. After slipping to the 20th round where he was ultimately selected, St. Louis made their attempt to sway him their way.
After just one day, it was clear where Johnson belonged. The coveted prospect tweeted out three tiger emojis on Wednesday, stirring the pot while teasing LSU fans, but now all signs point towards the left-handed pitcher taking his talents down South.
