LSU Baseball signee Anthony Murphy announced on social media that he is decommitting from the program and reopening his recruitment.

Murphy, an outfielder from Corona, Calif., was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 16th round last week.

Murphy's decommitment was somewhat expected and puts the Tigers' roster in a better spot.

Following the MLB Draft last week, LSU was set to have 40 players heading into next year, with a limit of 34. The Tigers will have some “designated student-athletes” and end up at 39 players in the fall, according to Jay Johnson.

Pretty sure this had a lot to do with roster numbers. If LSU was under the limit then Murphy would still be committed. I think Murphy may still sign a pro contract anyway. I don’t think he’s decided yet
