Former ESPN anchor Trey Wingo shared some behind the scenes of ESPN's relationship with the late legend Stuart Scott...
quote:

“Stuart was such an innovator,” Wingo explained during an appearance on the “Hoodie Chroniclez” podcast. “I’ll tell you one of the things that no one ever knows about Stuart, and maybe some people know this, but he was under a lot of scrutiny by management at ESPN. They didn’t like his style, which is interesting now because all they care about is style, for the most part. And they wanted to make sure, if you’re going to do that, back it up with information.”

“So if you go back and watch Stuart at his heyday, he was presenting himself in a way, ‘Cool as the other side of the pillow,’ all that kind of stuff, but then you would listen to him, he would drop more facts and more knowledge in one of those ‘SportsCenter‘ episodes than anyone else,” the ex-anchor added. “Basically, he was like, ‘Really? You’re going to mess with me? Alright, I’m gonna do my thing, and then I’m going to show you how much of your shite I can put in there as well.’”

Disney/ESPN. Disney is the bigger part of the problem by far.

I heard Bob Costas say "Cooler than the other side of the pillow in the late 1970s, when I was in high school.

Stuart Scott seemed to be a family man and a good guy, but he was the corniest sonofabitch ever on ESPN, and it was painful to watch. He just repeated trendy hip hop lyrics and trendy sayings that the kids were saying. What is orginal about that?

I enjoyed Stuart Scott. Kenny Mayne is the one I thought was corny and lame. Only funny line he had during highlights, is when they’d show the players celebrating after the games, he’d dryly say ‘and the players were gay’ - as a kid this always cracked me up

Sounds like they made him even better. It’s almost like they gave him feedback, and he took it and improved…..what a thought, management might actually care.

Way to criticize a man when he can respond!

Stuart Scott was the best! He was classy and very knowledgeable about the subjects he reported on. I think if he were alive today he would walk away so fast from the woke ESPN and work elsewhere.

BLM was trendy. Stuart Scott would have been on the front lines of that shite and he would have made it really theatrical.
