Is this Alabama head coach Nick Saban's most impressive statistic?
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
Nick Saban is arguably the most accomplished college football coach in history, but is this the Alabama head coach's most impressive statistic?...

How many of those became 5-stars only after they committed to Bama?

If you want to argue that they would have been 4-stars anywhere else, how does that hurt the point of the post? Seems like there are 3 possible conclusions to draw from this statistic (feel free to add if I miss any, just thinking out loud): 1. Saban is better at identifying "true" 5-stars than the rest of CFB coaches AND/OR 2. Saban is better at developing elite players than the rest of CFB coaches AND/OR 3. NFL GMs trust Saban's players to be good in the NFL to a greater extent than they trust the rest of CFB coaches' players AND/OR ???

first of all, frick Saban and bama. With that established, what does it matter the star ranking if they were drafted in the fist round? The NFL drafts on talent, not the subjective rating of a fat guy that scouts for 247/ So your comment has nothing to do with the stat. he churns out talent, similar to our Tigers

All of them got a Championship ring so it was probably justifiable.

What's his % of 2* & 3* players that even got drafted? 100% is the answer because he never has any 2* or 3* players on his teams.

Your response shows that you just spout of without facts. Plenty of 3 stars that have been drafted from Bama.

he's doing what all sports publications do: cater to the most avid fan base to get eyes on the product, which leads to profits.

I ran some numbers a few years ago for 1 recruiting class (maybe 2016 or 2017). Alabama got like 65% of all 5 stars rated that year in the whole country... There were only 15-20 and more than half were committed to Alabama. If you get almost all of them, you should have a higher percentage getting drafted. Saban is a great coach but when you build your teams from mostly 4 star and 5 star players, coaching is much easier. When a 5 star is surrounded by lesser players he doesn't shine as much.

As much as I hate saban, there’s a reason he’s recruiting them. When he was at LSU, we all of a sudden started recruiting like crazy. He was the reason.

Thermal is correct. Saban told Moore just as much shortly after being hired. He admitted that Moore didn't hire the best coach, and he was nothing without his players. But, he also admitted Moore just hired a hell of a recruiter. I genuinely dislike it when people count talent advantage among top programs as a knock on a head CFB coach. Recruiting is a year round business and as important as any other faction. You may be the best Xs and Os guy out there, but if can't get the right amount of talent on the team, it really doesn't matter. That said, Saban has not consistently been able to hire and retain those top tier Xs and Os guys to truly take advantage of that top tier player talent. Scary thought if he had.

A better stat would be what percentage of your 5 stars go in the first round

Wouldn't a better stat be where on the bell curve of career longevity do Bammer fivestars land? Another way of asking pro teams are Bammer players value for money?

Never be another like him. Great leader, role model, and coach. Class act all the way around.

Everyone’s missing the point. He’s a great evaluator of talent. Back in the day he takes Corey Webster and changes him to corner back. He takes spears and changes him to DE. Now because of his reputation they become five stars because he recruits them. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy

One of the dumbest stats I've ever seen. Good players are good? shocker

I guess you missed the part where 1 out of 4 five stars are drafted at other schools and 1 out of 2 are drafted under saban. Take a class or two and roll tide
