While in monroe, Mecca, funroe, etc, we ate at zaxbys. Wow do they kill canes. Many more choices & the zax sauce is awesome, a little more spicy. Well done zax, well done.
We went to Cotton. I could only stay thru apps & those were outstanding. Got a call for mom in ICU so had to bail but can't wait to go back. Thanks yall

I apologize in advance, no time to search thru Monroe or Mecca. What are the best dinner places? Price not an issue, impression of food/Louisiana is what im going for. Tia!

Between Ferriday and Delhi? We're not picky on type of food, just prefer a good hole in the wall over the typical chains. TIA

We ended up at Brookshires. Neither Coffee Bean or Vieux Carre had ready to go king cakes. Never really considered the difference of availability in south LA vs north LA until now, wow.
King Cake in Monroe Area
Posted by jmerokx on 2/22/14 at 8:30 am
We're in Oak Grove and would like to get a couple of king cakes today as a thank you to the staff we're working with here. So far the only place we've found king cake is Walmart, which is a no. Any recommendation on a good bakery/grocery store that has king cakes we can walk in and buy in this area? We can go as far as the Monroe area.
TIA

The place downtown that used to be a bank. Haven't been to Alex in several years so it may be closed but if not it was fabulous.
Went a few weeks ago. Wing snack was terrific.
Don't know why I didn't think to check store websites. Found this...

Got lunch from here today. Let me preface that a 6 person lunch was $112. That being said, I personally tried the boudin spring rolls, good but sauce made it awesome. Seafood beignets were really bland. Caprese salas was really good. Crab cake ok, nothing to write home about.
