Anyone know anything about it? When it's opening, who the chef is? Menu looks good. Definitely nothing like it in the area.

What do you mean? Why would you assume that?

All modern steakhouses are the same IMO. Cheesy and pretensious vibe and substandard menu. The old steakhouses (Peter Luger, St. Elmo's) are a dying breed unfortunately.

But who knows, it could be a good place. Not sure what type of theme they're going for being located in Central, LA.

We'll try it I just dont know if they will make it. People out here want Sammy's and Mike Andersons. The menu may be too sophisticated and pricey..

Spot on. That's exactly what I'm thinking.

That's an awful name for a restaurant.

What's the conversion rate from double x's to dollars? I'm afraid that'll confuse some diners.

I read about this. Doesn't seem like a good idea IMO. Terrible name, too.

Maybe he will have the same recipe for success that's somehow working for him at Little Village: abysmal service and mediocre food.

It's the little village people. Menu is not going to be up to par for any of the foodies here. Have stuff like just steaks, beef Wellington. Nothing that is "exciting". But properly prepared the food will be really good, even if it isn't sweetbreads and all that. In m opinion people here will shun the restaurant before trying it.

Updating this thread. Went there this past weekend. Everything at the table was delicious. Boudin spring rolls were money, ponzu sauce was really hot (spice).

Fried Shrimp - 10 of them that were HUGE. Were excellent. Came with green beans.

New York strip with a Cajun rub- cooked in a black iron skillet and served on the skillet. Was really really good. Came with vegetable of the day, green beans.

Smoked prime rib 16oz - others didnt like it as much, but I thought it was great. Perfectly tender and definitely smoked, as you can see their smoker outside the back of the restaurant so at least you know it's a legit try at smoking. I loved it. Came with a potato.

Prices are definitely high. Steaks more expensive than Ruth's by a little. There is a six ounce filet and a nine ounce. Salads are a la carte along with sides (eight dollars each). Our three entrees just happened to have sides as part of the dish without having to order one a la carte.

People from Zachary, Denham, and Central will be the customer base. It's the only restaurant of the type available without driving into Baton Rouge. Place was full, and the upstairs is nice. The outside balcony seating will be great once the weather cools down.

New York is their signature apparently, 41. Filets 34 and 37 I think. Prime Rib was 34, but at least it's a sixteen ounce steak. Forgot the price on the 14 ounce bone in ribeye.

And I'm not defending their business plan or pricing on anything, just laying it out there. I guess Stabler is confident.

We thought the food was excellent. You just have to wonder if the service will consistently be great and the food quality staying at a high level. Otherwise, it is really really hard to compete with Ruth's.

Like I said earlier, a lot of the crowd will be people not driving into Baton Rouge for that type of meal.
