I've used the phone apps a good bit too, but in heavy trees I've had poor reception issues. Budget is around 400

Handheld GPS

Sorry if this has been asked repeatedly, did a search and didn't come up with much. What handheld GPS would the OB recommend for hunting and fishing. My garmin finally crapped out the other day. Would like to stick with garmin and have been considering the Garmin - GPSMAP 62sc GPS. Let me hear what y'all got
My disdain for them is because every coonazz in the state puts one out (with the exception of a few, myself included). The area I hunt has many blinds with big spreads and multiple mojos and I'm convinced they are as effective as live decoys at times. Plenty of duck hunters slaughter birds with zero calling ability and terribly brushed blinds because of robo duck spinning his little wings off 30 yards from the blind.

I also think that they condition birds in weird ways, I've always had better luck finishing birds to the decoys without a robo. But I will admit this, the robo is very effective at getting birds attention from very far distances, when I gave them up it seemed as though the big groups will circle the edge of range to often when a robo was put out

Just my opinion
Like as mentioned earlier, there's a handful of spots on the other side of the levee along the river that get stacked up with mallards when there's water in the woods. Very hit or miss though

Good Luck
Awesome purchase. The pro anglers look big and bulky at first but they move very well in the water, I'm jealous. Nothing better than being able to fish out of a kayak with complete use of your hands

LOL I hope you and most everyone else continues to think that. As long as oil stays 75-90 bucks a barrel many of these independents will continue making big profits on the shelf
