re: Rock River Arms AR-10's

I have a Rock River LAR-8 varmint, 26" ss heavy barrel. I have had zero problems with it and it is MOA rifle all day long. I owned an Armalite AR10 and once it got hot, it would not extract spent cartridge. Never could run a full 20 rd mag through it. This was about 4 years ago, maybe the new models are better.

45-70
45 is bullett diameter, in the original loading, 70 was for 70 grain of blackpowder.

A 260 grain bullet @ 2050 fps is going to generate muzzle blast and recoil. However, both are subjective. I definitely wear muffs and the blast doesnt bother me, neither does the recoil. The .454 has more retained energy @ 100 yds than the .44 mag has at the muzzle.

Father's Day Gift

I gave myself an early father's day gift; Ruger Super Redhawk .454 Casull. Pistol is stainless with 7-1/2" barrel. Ammo is a bit pricey, $43.00 for 20 rounds. It is an absolute "BLAST" to fire.

I have RRA LAR-8 Varmint. It has 26" stainless Wilson barrel. I added Harris bipod, Magpul PRS stock and Ergo tactile grip. Rifle shoots 1/2 m.o.a all day with factory Federal Gold Metal Match 168 gr.
You will enjoy your rifle. It is easy to burn up $200.00 woth of ammo if you don't reload. Have fun!
